Week 16

WEEK 16
Words of Encouragement
“God called the light ‘day’ and the darkness he called ‘night’.” Genesis 1:5
Can you see how the Word  uses the new sentence patterns? Doesn't that just blow your mind?

Latin Phrase of the Day-
Latin phrase of the Day- Deus amor est
Because Valentines Day is on Wednesday, I decided
to go with a Valentines theme. 💙💚💛💜

EEL

REVIEW:
The kids came in and wrote out the NOUN chart. We talked a bit about noun usages and pronouns.
THEN we spent the rest of the EEL time plugging in some nouns into our Valentine sentences. I hope seeing all the different combos up on the board offered these girls a bigger picture.

SENTENCE STRUCTURE
Cx: has an independent clause and a subordinate clause.
We reviewed this chart again to get in our minds what is what.

PURPOSE:
Declarative: What do we know about the Declarative purpose?
1. Declarative = makes a statement or declares something
3. Period at the end of the sentence.

NEW GRAMMAR:
  PATTERN: S-Vt-DO-OCN and S-Vt-DO-OCA
The last two sentence patterns were introduced today. In order to understand these patterns, we had to look back at two parts of speech.

MATH

We enjoyed ourselves with the I <3 Candy game. The kiddos did great with the sweet challenge. We ended with GRAPHING our sweet results.

IEW

REVIEW: We took time to listen to each other’s paper.
NEW GRAMMAR: It was time to talk through UNIT 7
INVENTIVE WRITING- next few weeks
Inventive- (something you have come up with) Inventory- stock of stuff you have. Inventio- discover CANONS of RHETORIC (gather ideas)

This is a TWO week project. Week 1 we will think of topics and bring them to a paragraph, THEN we will add an intro and conclusion during Week 2.

There are 4 steps this week:
 Brainstorm Subject/Prompt
 KWO two topics
      Add dress ups/Write paragraph
      Final Draft/Use Checklist

I cannot wait to hear what these girls come up with! 💙💚💛💜
